Head of Finance

Job Description

Following a busy period of growth, a new opportunity has arisen for a Head of Finance to join the Senior Leadership Team of a medium sized consultancy firm, reporting directly to the Managing Director. You will utilise your strong leadership skills to ensure robust financial controls and influence decision making across the organisation. Working in conjunction with the SLT at both a strategic and operational level you will have complete responsibility for the entire finance function.

Key responsibilities:

  • Finance staff management including Management Accountants; Sales and Purchase Ledger clerks; Treasury, Payroll and Client Billing personnel
  • Manage and control the budgeting process, monthly management accounts and fortnightly forecasting, including detailed cashflow reporting
  • Key input in new business bids, providing advice on costs, pricing, risks and wider business implications
  • Highlight opportunities and flag risks timeously including appropriate analysis, commentary, and insight
  • Undertake comprehensive business modelling for various projects and investment decisions taking place within the business
  • Liaising with key suppliers as necessary to deliver optimum terms and reduce costs
  • Produce group statutory accounts under FRS102 and supervise the year end audit

Skills and experience:

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification
  • Significant commercial finance experience, with strong analytical skills, an attention to detail and the ability for quick and effective decision making
  • Experience producing robust budgets and forecasts
  • Experience managing and forecasting cashflow
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to mentor and motivate a small finance team
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with an ability to influence a range of internal and external stakeholders, particularly non finance and senior stakeholders
